Comparing 1.8 Density & 2.5 Density Foam
When choosing foam for mattress repair, the density significantly impacts durability and comfort. 1.8 density poly foam is considered a medium-density foam and is often the industry standard for many Mattress applications due to its balance of performance and value. While it provides great support and comfort, it tends to soften and develop permanent impressions more quickly compared to 2.5 density, typically lasting 6-10 years with regular use. In contrast, 2.5 density poly foam is a high-density foam that offers superior durability and resilience. It contains more material per cubic foot, making it heavier, more supportive, and much more resistant to sagging and breakdown over time. This higher density translates to a significantly longer lifespan, often 10-15 years or more, making it a better investment for frequently used mattresses where long-term comfort and support are desired Both Foams are a 35 ILD meaning they will both have that Medium Feel. One is just more dense than the other.
Most mattresses in the industry that are using regular foam tend to use 1.5-1.8 Density. Though 1.8 is still great quality, we offer 2.5 if you wish to upgrade to a more superior quality foam and still achieve the same feel.
